Merlock the Magnificent

Welcome back!

This week I am going to show off another commission for a local client. This one is Merlock the Magnificent from Reaper Miniatures. All colors chosen by client, and the clear base provided. Lets take a look:

Merlock the Magnificent

This one was done to a higher standard than normal, so that was a bonus for me. Really enjoyed painting this one, and got to use my new background!

Until next time!

Two more for the Path

Welcome back readers! This weeks post finds a pair of miniatures from Reaper Miniatures Pathfinder line. Before we start, I know the bases are not done so technically they are not finished, but I have problems coming to a decision on what base to put them on. For now I leave them on a plain base.
Both of these miniatures (like so many) caught my eye and I needed to paint them up as soon as I purchased them over the summer. I worked on both of these between the Skorne battle box shared last week, because sometimes I need a break of color usage.

Brotherhood of the Seal

First up we have the monk, a member of the Brotherhood of the Seal. I wanted to work on light colors again, testing them out for another color scheme I have in mind elsewhere.

Overall, I enjoyed this color set up, but it wasnt quite what I had in mind. But for the monk it worked so I am happy with it.

Dungeon Torturer

Next is the fearsome Dungeon Torturer. A little sadistic thrown in for opposition to the light of the monk. I also wanted to try working on my NMM (Non Metallic Metal) silver on the sword. It came off a bit dull and I still need to work on it.

Overall I also enjoyed this piece, and she came out akin to BatKane, Batwoman, with the red hood.

So that is the update this week as I move along painting a new commission. We will probably get to see those in a while as I am almost finished. Next week you can tune in for another glimpse of what I do and enjoy your weekend!

Until next time...

Almaran the Gold

Almaran the Gold, a paladin and another figure from Reaper Bones line of miniatures. Another commission piece done for the same client as Action Jackson.

I need to work on my OSL, but this wasn't the piece for it. The afro was added using green stuff putty, and if you look closely at his nose, that was modified as well. His feet were cut free from the original base and added to a 25mm square base so he could be used for an RPG character.

Time for Action...

Action Jackson! From the Reaper Bones line of miniatures, this was a commission piece done with a little modification so the client could use the miniature for his Zombicide character.

The machete and uzi were taken off a Zombicide character and added so he wouldn't feel left out.  Now we have a black 70's action star ready to battle the hordes of zombies.

This is what I love about the Reaper Bones miniature line. Figures done on the cheap with great detail, ready to be painted and used to whatever ends you wish.

Garrick the Bones

Ok ok, so his name is Garrick the Bold, but this is from (you might guess it) Reapers Bones line! I picked up 2 of this model, 1 for myself and display and the other for my son who wanted me to paint it up for him. So this is my sons model I painted up, the other will come later on sometime.

Here are some pics!

I tried a few different methods in here, namely the way I did his armor, sword, and shield black. I used black ink mixed with your standard acrylic paints, turned out pretty good if I say so myself (the flash off the camera doesnt help much). Well back to doing something, I havnt decided yet but I will show you when I am done! Enjoy.

No bones about it..

..I really do like Reaper Miniatures new Bones line.  "Why?" you ask. Simple, first they are a fantasy miniature line, not to mention the price point is fantastic (aka cheap). The models look great and the best part? I can pull it straight out of the package and begin painting right away!

That has got to be my favorite part. No cleaning mold lines, no pre coating with primer (you can if you want to but you dont need to), and they are a great buy!

So this post is not just raving how great the line is, but as in the title, This is about the Skeleton Warriors pack. for $5 you get 3 models, skeleton spearmen with shields. And here are some pics::

I really enjoy painting these, just hope my LGS gets more in. I find painting 1 of the pack between projects helps me refocus as well as getting to paint something. Well now I am off to paint some more things and plan my newest terrain feature, just need to find the right materials.

Until next time!

Gnoll Warrior Bones

I cant stay away from Reaper Miniatures Bones line. This one is the Gnoll Warrior. His price was only $2.50! The thing that appeals to me about the Reaper Bones line most is the fact that I can buy it cheap, take it out of the package and start painting right away. No preliminary work needed. No flash or mold lines to remove, no priming needed, just out of the package and paint.

Here is the Gnoll Warrior from Reaper Bones, enjoy!

Seriously whats not to love about this line? Although in its first run of miniatures, hopefully they will expand on more of them. OK, now back to painting after uploading 4 posts today, it might be a while before I do more uploading. Take care.

Dem Bones

Recently Reaper Miniatures released a new product line called Bones. The idea was simple, release a high quality low cost miniature set. They hit it OUT OF THE PARK! This line is amazing, not only do the miniatures look great (almost no mold lines, no cleaning required), but their cost is amazingly low. They are plastic and...well lets just show some pictures.

Bones just bougth at the LGS. Here we have the Dwarven Warrior. he cost only $2! TWO DOLLARS for a fantastic looking dwarf warrior model. Its still hard to fathom, I know. $2.

Out of the package, I did not do anything yet except remove him from the package. nice detail.
And the backside is nice too. Still plastic, still untouched.
So they say its formulated to work great with the Reaper Master Series paints (which is all I use). No primer needed they say. Well this is gonna be unprimed! so I started on the beard...it holds. looks good so far - but I feel odd not priming a miniature.

All done! Below is the Dwarven Warrior (unprimed) all painted up! Now they also say the paint will hold to this unprimed plastic no matter how you rub or twist it. And that is true! so no coat seal either.

Oh so beautiful! $2. Reaper Miniatures proves it can be done. I love it! This one I have loaned out to my LGS Comic Store West to display, I have a feeling I will do a bit more for them as well, This is so nice :)

Well I did enjoy that, I will be doing more of these later this month (I think) but I still have some more to upload and paint.

Eagle Knight of Andoren

This was the final miniature commission piece for the Keep Diorama. He is from Reaper Miniatures line " Pathfinder". Normally, the Eagle Knight of Andoren is a human. But for this Commission he is a fire elemental in human form.

His skin was a bit hard to do, as fire for skin. And the armor is supposed to blend from a dark red metallic to a slight highlight...but it doesnt show that way thru the camera. Colors were requested and I do like how the rest of him turned out, aside from the armor.

Klaus Copperthumb, Dwarf Thief

Klaus is another commission piece for the Keep Diorama. He is from Reaper Miniatures line "Dark Heaven Legends".

His colors were requested, and like the others his original base was stripped to make way for the custom base.

Theda, Priestess

Theda comes to me from Reaper Miniatures line "Warlord". She was a bit easier to assemble because she comes with no base. Colors were requested that she match those of an air warlock so I matched with light blues and white. She was also another commission piece to be used in the Keep Diorama.

Elliwyn Heatherlark, Gnome

Straight from Reaper Miniatures line "Dark Heaven Legends" is Elliwyn Heatherlark, a gnome.

Another commission piece for the Keep Diorama, her original base was stripped and replaced with the custom random stone base. Colors were requested.

Fergus the Weaver

A bard walks into a bar... Not really. This is Fergus, he is from Reaper Miniatures line "Dark Heaven Legends".  Another commission piece for the Keep Diorama.

Original base was stripped for the custom one. Colors were requested.

Silas, Cleric

Silas is a Cleric. He comes from Reaper Miniatures "P-65 Heavy Metal" line. He is another commission piece for the Keep Diorama.

As with all the other commission pieces in this series his original base was stripped off and the colors were requested.

Mason Thornwarden, Ranger

From Reaper Miniatures line of "Dark Heaven Legends", I present Mason Thornwarden. Mason is normally a human model, but for this commission piece he was to be a D&D half-orc (grey color skin). His original base was also stripped off for the custom base used in the "Keep Diorama".

I do like his pose, although you may notice the extended leg is a bit misshapen. That was do to the removal of the original base, but it still works fine. Colors were requested.

Isabeau Laroche, Paladin

She is a paladin, a female paladin. A female elven paladin. She is from Reaper Miniatures line "Dark Heaven Legends". A commission piece for the Keep Diorama.

Her original base was stripped off so I can add the custom base that would fit with the display piece. There was also a request that she bare the symbol of Ion, a god in D&D game that she was being used for. The symbol was hand sculpted with green stuff. Colors were also requested.

Loryn Stormblade, Elf

Loryn Stormblade, and elf. He is from Reaper Miniatures "Dark Heaven Legends" line of miniatures. I think he may be the leader of the group (or not) but as an elf his armor has to be pretty. So shiny pearl white is how I painted it.

His hair is not much to my liking in color, but its what was wanted. The eyes...the eyes turned out different than normal. Im not sure what happened, and I am kind of liking it.

Thelgar, 1/2 Orc Barbarian

His name is Thelgar. He is a 1/2 Orc Barbarian. He is from Reaper Miniatures "Dark Heaven Legends" line of miniatures. As a commission piece that is ment to be part of a group, he was the hardest. Just because the only piece of cloth I could paint, would be the loincloth.

I rather do like how he turned out tho.
