Nightmare Teddy

Welcome back! Another update today, trying to keep in sync with a schedule here, and we have something special.

Wyrd Miniatures makes some great miniatures for their tabletop game Malifaux, they always have. More than recently they moved to plastic, like many of the other companies, and started introducing "Nightmare" versions of different models. An alternate sculpt if you will, "nightmare" versions usually look meaner and more intimidating than their regular versions.

So for this show and tell, I present a commission piece, the Nightmare Teddy! Now, the client already had a base concept in mind to match the rest of his crew, so I was just to paint the model and leave the base which would be attached later.

Nightmare Teddy

Let's start off by the evil clown appearance of the face. Yes, going for the Prince of Crime himself, Joker! even topped with the leaf green for the hair, and look at that beautiful smile!

Covering the body in patch work fashion, I had the idea of all the nightmares, the opposite of the Care Bears (remember them?) So Nightmare Teddy has patch-worked the torn apart care bears skin, making them his own, a true nightmare.

Attach some blades for his fingers and toes, and hes ready to welcome you to the dream world.

All in all I had a blast painting this figure. Everything from concept of his color to the finishing touches brought an evil grin to my face. And I must say, looks pretty intimidating across the table.

Hope you enjoyed my share. Until next time, keep that palette clean!

Orange is the new....

Wanted to post this on Wednesday, but here it is Friday already. I have a new work schedule so life once again gets rearranged. Going back to working 5 days a week instead of my old 3-12hr days. Less time for long paint sessions, but I have plenty of pics to work on and post up here.

This week, we go Orange with 2 new models from Wyrd Miniatures for their game Malifaux, the Convict Gunslingers! They work for the Outcast faction and come 2 in a box. Convicts always wear orange right?

Convict Gunslinger 1

 look at that stare...

I free handed some tattoos on both his arms, the left one moreso than the right.

Convict Gunslinger 2

This nice tribal on his back is a running symbol I used before (you will see it again). Its a nice way to tie in figures from the same group for games.

There you have it, 2 wanted men all but based up and ready for the frey. I have issues (I think I have said before) when it comes to base work on miniatures. Usually, if part of a faction to play in a game, I like to make them all at once. I wanted to at least put these up here while I had them done so I dont run into the backlog I have right now of publishing pictures.

Until next week, have a great weekend!

Terraclips in Hand!!!

Well a long time coming, but well worth the wait. What are Terraclips? Well they are a collaboration brought forth from WorldWorks Games and Wyrd Miniatures. They are a 3D Terrain System, fully functional with each set, which is based in the Wyrd Universe, a city known as Malifaux.

They have a beautiful design and artwork and come in a 1" grid format, which is perfect for RPGers and the Wargamers. While it does say 1" grid, there are some pieces where you dont actually see the grid, but alot of places that you do - so it may not actually work that well for Wargaming do to the fact you could measure out visually before you actually move. But they are beautiful!

Each set (there are 3- Streets, Buildings, and Sewers) comes with aplenty of floor tiles (6x6" and 3x3"), wall tiles (6x6" and 3x3"), 3 stairs and, depending on the set,  special tiles to use. Streets comes with ramps and archways, Sewers comes with catwalks, Buildings comes with balconies and roofs!

Enough talk. I grabbed up one of each set and started building. I also got some pics of these quick builds for show here and at my LGS. So I will present each to you in following posts titled as each set name. Streets of Malifaux, Buildings of Malifaux, and Sewers of Malifaux.

NOTE: To actually build the Terraclips, you must also purchase a box of  Connectors (the clips themselves). Now different builds use different combination of clips (I-Clips, L-Clips, and T-Clips), and for all three of these sets, I purchased 1 Connector pack per Terrain Box, then I got an extra Connector box just in case (it was a smart move).

Enjoy!!
